WE ARE ADDICTED. Marian Rojas Estapé
We are addicted to sensations
We are addicts, emotional addicts, addicted to sensations.
This is the powerful message that Marian Rojas Estapé, a renowned psychiatrist, shares with the world.
Contrary to what has been said for years, addiction is not purely physical. While it is true that in addictions to tobacco, alcohol, tranquilizers, anxiolytics, or drugs, whether legal or not, there is a part of physiological dependence, addiction is an emotional issue. We are addicted to emotions.
The functioning of our brain is the same in all types of addictions, it goes through the same processes. The generation of dopamine artificially alters our mood and we end up resorting to it to cover up our discomfort, i.e., to keep us from feeling better, Since we don’t feel good, we do things that provide us with small doses of dopamine to feel good. This wellbeing is fleeting and superficial, because although the sensation is good, it does not cure or heal our discomfort, it simply alleviates it temporarily.
We live frustrated, stressed societies with all kinds of ailments that are becoming more and more frequent and growing, such as anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem and frustration. All this alters our way of feeling, we live in permanent discomfort, we are frustrated societies.
Our mind (ego), which is very powerful and necessary for survival, plays tricks on us.We are not enough, that we are not up to the task and that we should be another type of person or achieve things to feel good. Therein lies the big tell me, to realize and be aware that what our mind tells us is not real.
We are enough and we can be happy accepting ourselves as we are.
Living in permanent discomfort and frustration, we are in an incessant search for sensations and emotions that make us feel good.
Times change and thanks to technology, we are addicted to the sensations that technology gives us, and especially the screens of the phone, Tablet or PC since, together with social networks, it has become the biggest drug of the 21st century .
We live trapped by the day to day and we are not aware of the consequences that technology and the use of social networks is having on our brains and our quality of life, as explained by psychiatrist Marian Rojas Estapé.
We are addicted to technology, addicted to cell phones, addicted to social networks and we are not aware of anything.
With this conference by Marian Rojas Estapé we have the opportunity to make a stop on our way, to realize and be aware of how we think, how we feel and how we act, since everything we do has consequences in ourselves, in our way of feeling and in our brain. You are addicted, be aware and wake up
Don’t believe anything you just read, experiment and think for yourself.
Wake up
Wake up!
